Orkla is a group of companies that produce goods, including for Norwegian consumers. The Norwegian Orkla companies share responsibility for processing your personal data, and we promise to handle it securely.

Purpose of Processing Personal Data
The purpose of using personal data and the types of personal data we process will be specifically stated or evident from the context of your interaction with us, or it will be outlined in the section “Scope of Our Processing of Personal Data” below.

In short, Orkla processes personal data to handle inquiries from consumers and others, to deliver services or products they have requested, or to tailor communication, marketing, product development, and the production of goods and services.

Scope of Our Processing of Personal Data

Our processing of personal data is carried out within the framework of applicable Norwegian laws and regulations. The legal basis for processing will be one of the following:

  • The processing is necessary to fulfill an agreement with you or to carry out tasks in preparation for such an agreement, for example, when creating a user account in an online store, which involves storing contact details and your orders.

  • The processing is necessary for Orkla to fulfill a legal obligation, including the obligation under the Accounting Act to retain payment information.

  • You have given us explicit consent for a specific type of processing, such as subscribing to newsletters.

  • Orkla has a legitimate interest in a certain type of processing, which we believe is acceptable based on your interaction with us. This applies in the following cases:

    • If you have consented to receiving offers or newsletters from Orkla, we may personalize these communications to ensure the marketing is relevant to you.
    • If you have consented to receiving offers or newsletters from Orkla, we may use your email address and certain information from your interactions with us to tailor the display of advertisements to you or others on third-party websites (e.g., Facebook) to improve our marketing efforts.
    • If you participate in a competition or campaign, we may temporarily store your contact information to allow your participation and contact you if you win or receive other benefits directly related to the participation. Our interest in this processing is to market our products.
    • If you contact us, for example, with questions or feedback, we may process your name, contact details, and information in your inquiry as necessary to handle your request. Our interest in this processing is customer service and product and marketing improvements.
    • If you have logged in as a user on one of Orkla’s online stores and have items in your shopping cart without completing the purchase, we may store information about your cart to send you an email reminder about it later.
    • If you purchase goods or services from one of Orkla’s online stores, we may use purchase information for trend analysis. This allows us to adjust our communication, advertising, and inventory. The analysis will only display anonymous, aggregated information (statistics).

Storage Period, Deletion, and Anonymization

The length of time we store personal data depends on the legal basis for its use, as outlined in “Scope of Our Processing of Personal Data” above. When the basis for processing is the fulfillment of an agreement or a legal obligation, the data is deleted once the agreement or obligation has been fulfilled. If storage is based on your consent, the data will be deleted upon your request—either by contacting us as explained below, through our user pages (“My Page” or similar), or via links in our emails to you. If storage is based on Orkla’s legitimate interest, the data will be deleted no later than three years after collection. For data used in connection with inquiries, participation in campaigns, or competitions, the information will be deleted once the inquiry has been processed or when the campaign or competition has ended.

As an alternative to deletion, we may remove identifying details from personal data so that the information can no longer be linked to you (anonymization). Such anonymized data may be used in our experience archive and for creating analyses and statistics to customize and develop Orkla’s marketing and products in line with consumer preferences and needs.

Storage of Personal Data
Personal data will be stored on Microsoft’s servers in Europe. Should it become necessary to grant Microsoft temporary access to systems in other countries where the data is stored, for example for troubleshooting, adequate privacy safeguards are ensured through the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU/US Privacy Shield agreement. Contact
Contact us at privacy@orkla.no if you wish to access, obtain, correct, or delete personal data stored about you. Likewise, you may object to, request the restriction of, or withdraw your consent to the processing of personal data. Additionally, you have the option to lodge a complaint about the processing of personal data with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
